Oh, Iowa State. My faith in the Cyclones hasn't been left unrewarded in consecutive weeks. I hit on both of my upset picks last week, but swung and missed on picking the Cyclones to defend their honor at home as an underdog. Still, it was the only miss from last week. So close. Just when I thought I was about to string together the always-elusive perfect week, I stumbled just short of the goal line. Alas, I've gotten back up for Week 4. On to this week's predictions. Last week: 7-1 (.875) Overall: 20-5 (.800) Baylor debuted this perfect Photoshop on Wednesday in honor of their visitors from the Bayou. BeardUp RT @BUFootball In honor of ULM and @Duck_Commander visiting Waco on Saturday, we present BearDynasty. pic.twitter.comuoKaLU8dXi David Ubben (@davidubben) September 18, 2013 I might be just as content to stare at that for three hours instead of watching the game on Saturday, but I might tune in anyway. Baylor is better on both sides of the ball than it was the last time these two teams played. Louisiana-Monroe's offense has been disappointing thus far. ... Baylor 55, Louisiana Monroe 17 Last season, Louisiana Tech might have won this game by 30. Not this team. The Bulldogs have struggled in rebuilding mode thus far, and are 0-2 against FBS foes in 2013. Kansas hung tough on the road against a Rice team better than most realize. The Jayhawks ride James Sims and Tony Pierson and get back to 2-1 with a strong performance. ... Kansas 27, Louisiana Tech 20 Dennis Franchione's Texas State Bobcats haven't lost this season, but Texas Tech is a whole lot better than Southern Miss (owners of a 15-game losing streak) and FCS Prairie View A&M. The Red Raiders make this one look easy at home. No contest. Stop the fight. Even C.J. Ross would score this one in favor of the Red Raiders. ... Texas Tech 41, Texas State 13 Maryland as a touchdown favorite ahead of West Virginia? Consider me skeptical. The Terrapins are no longer stuck playing a linebacker at quarterback, but I guess this is an upset pick. Ford Childress backs up a strong start with a good outing in Baltimore and the Mountaineers' defense prevents Stefon Diggs from running completely wild, though he does top 100 yards receiving. ... West Virginia 31, Maryland 27 Bill Snyder and OC Dana Dimel are better at scheming the quarterback run game than anyone on BYU or Ole Miss' staff, and quarterback Daniel Sams is a more talented runner than anyone on either team that already befuddled Texas' defense. Daniel Sams plays more than Jake Waters and sends Texas to 1-3, though it's merely a speed bump on the Longhorns' eventual run to the Big 12 title. ... Kansas State 38, Texas 24
