Head Coach Bob Stoops Get Extension Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops received an extension taking him through 2020 and University of Oklahoma’s President Boren will recommend the OU Board of Regents take formal action at their September meeting.  President David L. Boren had this to say about the Coach Stoop’s extension: “We took this action to express the University’s deep appreciation for Bob Stoops’ work.  In my opinion, he ranks among the very best nationally in the way he combines his ability as a coach with high ethical standards. I greatly value and enjoy my association with Bob and feel extremely fortunate that at the University of Oklahoma we have the longest continuous tenure of the current head football coach, athletics director and president.” Boren went on to say: “The progress made in our football program since Bob took the helm in 1999 is remarkable. He has truly revived one of the great college football traditions, while adding his own enhancements, and elevating the profile and competition in the Big 12 Conference. As president, it is particularly meaningful to me that we have a coach who has accomplished so much and with such high personal integrity. His strong character represents the best of the values of our university. I’m always proud when he represents the University of Oklahoma to the nation.” OU AD Joe Castiglione commented as well on the extension saying: “Coach Stoops has become one of college football’s iconic figures yet he is a selfless man who remains focused on winning championships adding to our program’s great legacy.” Coach Stoops is the only active coach with a winning percentage higher than 80 percent over the last 14 seasons.  Stoop won one national championship played in four BCS Championships and has accumulated eight Big-12 during his tenure.  That’s right, Mack Brown is jealous again. Coach Stoops Adds One Of Saban’s Former Defensive Assistants Former  Saban quality control defensive assistant Chad Walker will be joining the staff at Oklahoma. He will be joining the Sooners as a defensive quality control assistant.  This is important as the Sooners are looking to add more staff as the Crimson Tide, Mississippi and Texas have done.   These quality control assistants can bring another set of eyes and thoughts to solving the challenge the modern offenses pose.   After seeing how the Sooners struggled at the end of the season last year, anything will help.  College football continues to evolve and Coach Stoops is starting to innovate along with those changes.  Boomer!
