Matt Schilz threw for four touchdowns to help Bowling Green rally and beat Buffalo 42-28 Saturday in the season finale for both teams.
Schilz gave Bowling Green (5-7, 3-5 Mid-American Conference) a 21-20 lead on his 19-yard strike to Eugene Cooper with 23 seconds remaining in the first half. The Falcons then took a commanding 35-20 lead behind touchdown runs by John Pettigrew and Jamel Martin. Schilz capped off the scoring burst with a 64-yard bomb to Kamar Jorden to take a 42-20 lead with 45 seconds left to play in the third quarter.
Buffalo (3-9, 2-6) did not reach the end zone again until Chazz Anderson's 7-yard touchdown run with 1:01 left in the fourth quarter.
Schilz finished with 236 yards passing on 14-of-31 attempts. Cooper was his favorite receiver, grabbing six passes for 90 yards.
Branden Oliver led the way for Buffalo, tallying 127 yards on 34 carries.
