Brett Hundley scrambles. Hundley went 17-27 and 211 yards in the Bruins 34-27 win over Utah UCLA entered Pac-12 play on Saturday against Utah and escaped with a 34-27 win to move to 4-0 on the season. Brett Hundley continued to impress the entire country with his performance that featured 211 yards passing and 85 rushing yards and a touchdown for each category. Oh, and he caught a touchdown pass. Yeah, he can do that too. Hundley’’s versatility has been the catalyst to this explosive offensive, but what is more impressive is his drive to push the team forward in game that was hard to hold momentum. Whether it be extending drives by scrambling on third down or finding how to make something out of a broken play, Hundley continues to will the Bruins to win after win, giving them their best start since 2005. “He is really reaching to find the next level,” Coach Jim Mora said. “Everyone might have a bad play, a bad series, even a bad game. The great ones find a way to get it done.” Hundley has done just that this season, and will need to continue this as Pac-12 plays continues. What may have been the only thing more encouraging than Hundley’s play was the play of the Bruins young secondary who faced a serious challenge in Travis Wilson. Wilson threw for close to 300 yards, but threw 6 interceptions in the game. Freshmen Myles Jack and Priest Willis and sophomore Ishmaal Adams accounted for 3 of the interceptions, showing that this young secondary has talent. With both the offense and defense continuing their consistent play at such a high level, the Bruins can look to make their case for national title contenders as they look to crack the top ten.
