Bill Koch reports that Butch Jones has turned down the chance to speak to pretty much anyone, but namely North Carolina, UCLA and Illinois. It had been reported he turned down Illinois the other day, but hearing that he's not going to talk to anyone else is a nice relief. First time in ages UC is going to a bowl game without any kind of coaching rumors. Yet. This is good news for Butch and his family, because dude is going to get paid.

Anthony McClung was honored as the Big East Offensive Player of the Week. That comes off the heels of an 8 catch, 142 yard, 2 TD performance against UConn. It's the first time McClung has won the honor. He's the third Bearcat to win it this season. Zach Collaros and Isaiah Pead have both won the honor.

McClung was also honored with a nomination for the Receiver Performance of the Year. Apparently this has lasted all season long. The fans vote for the winner, which is determined during the All-Star Football Challenge, which airs on ESPN2 in February. Why February? I don't know. Seems like a long time. It's still a huge honor for McClung to even be nominated. I accept the award on his behalf.

Following his giant performance against UConn, Derek Wolfe was named the College Football Performance Awards Defensive Player of the Week. Wolfe had 10 tackles, 5 for loss and 2.5 sacks against the Huskies. He didn't clothesline anyone like he did Tino Sunseri though. This is a scientific award, in which individual playes are graded to see they overall effectiveness of the team. Wolfe certainly was highly effective on Saturday.

As if you needed any more proof to why Zach Collaros is a zombie, look no further than the many reports trickling out of Cincinnati that he might be able to suit up and start the Liberty Bowl. Collaros is 2 weeks ahead on his rehab. Coach Butch Jones says:

“He’s taken tremendous strides. He’s walking already. He’s off the crutches. We’re hoping as soon as next week he will start throwing, doing his drops, and participating in practice. There’s a tremendous opportunity that he may be able to participate in the Liberty Bowl.”

Great to hear it. In fact, all of this news is great to hear. This is a good news day, Cincinnati. Let's enjoy it.
