California Golden Bears freshman running back Fabiano Hale is recovering from injuries inflicted during a beating he received in the Cal locker room. There are conflicting stories coming from Hale’s family and University officials.
What is known is that an incident occurred in the Golden Bears locker room that rendered Hale unconscious and sent him to the hospital with a concussion and split ear. Both sides agree the fight was between Hale and one other player who’s name has not been released.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the freshman walk-on Hale reportedly had a habit of oversleeping and missing practices. The whole team was allegedly held accountable for it and told to “deal with it” but keep it in the locker room.
Head football coach Sonny Dykes denies that and said it was simply a fight between two players in the locker room. The coach also declined to name the other player but said he was not allowed to dress for the following game.
