TEAMS: South Carolina Gamecocks, Michigan State Spartans, Nebraska Cornhuskers
Nebraska’s defense has not lived up to expectations this season. A unit which returned Jared Crick, Lavonte David, and Alfonzo Dennard never quite performed consistently. David and Dennard played well this season, but Crick got injured and only played a handful of games.
Nebraska’s matchup with South Carolina presents a challenge for this defensive unit. South Carolina has a few weapons on offense that can hurt the blackshirts, but they are missing All-American Marcus Lattimore.
First and foremost, Nebraska is going to have to stop the run. Connor Shaw is a dual threat quarterback who has the possibility to give Nebraska fits. Though he is not as fast as Dennard Robinson or Russell Wilson, Shaw has enough speed to get away from pressure and extend plays. Cameron Meredith, Eric Martin, Thad Randle, and the rest of the line are going to have to shed blockers and make plays.
Secondly, Nebraska’s pass defense needs improvement. Against Michigan State and Iowa, the Hus...

Nebraska Cornhuskers Early 2012 Outlook
After a bummer of a bowl game for Nebraska, it’s time to look ahead to what 2012 could off the Huskers. After a season filled with many ups and downs, it is going to be a tough off-season, especially with how it ended. Hopefully they use this game as motivation to work harder and improve.
The Huskers schedule will not be any easier next season. A non conference schedule has...
South Carolina’s Jeffery named Capital One MVP in spite of ejection
South Carolina wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has a reputation that precedes him.
One of the country’s most talented, and raw wideouts, Jeffery is also a hothead who tends to let his temper get the best of him at the worst possible times.
Jeffery certainly didn’t make today an exception, as he turned in a solid performance in South Carolina’s 30-13 victory over...
Turning the page to 2012
In case you missed it yesterday the Capital One Bowl went something like this: "Damn." Nebraska, probably the fourth best team in the Big Ten, didn't get pounded by (probably) the fourth best team in the SEC. That was the good news. The bad news was that the Huskers decided to chain smoke exploding cigars in the second half, winding up with more penalty yards than offense...
NFL prospects scrap in Capital One Bowl
South Carolina receiver Alshon Jeffery and Nebraska cornerback Alfonzo Dennard, both of who are expected to be selected in the first round of April's NFL Draft, added to their "character issues" during the Capitol One Bowl on Monday.
During the third quarter Jeffery and Dennard squared off in a battle reminiscent of Deon vs. Andre Rison. Both players where ejected...
The Quad: A Nebraska Fan Faces the New Reality
Nebraska used to win in numbing, overwhelming fashion, but even the most spoiled fans are getting used to the current reality under Coach Bo Pelini.
Raw Video: Alfonzo Dennard Post
Alfonzo Dennard's last game as a Nebraska Cornhusker will go down as possibly his worst. After not only giving up some huge players to Alshon Jeffery throughout the game, Dennard was ejected in the 3rd quarter for fighting with Jeffery.
Capital One Bowl: Match Ups to Watch
Nebraska and South Carolina are just hours away from kickoff in the Capital One Bowl from Orlando, Florida. Nebraska comes in representing the B1G 10 in their first season, and will be looking for their third consecutive ten win season. South Carolina represents in the SEC, and will be looking for a school record eleventh win.
In Capital One Bowl, there are going to be quite a few...
Do the Husker Problems Start at the Top?
Nebraska’s loss was nothing less than ugly today. There is no way around it. A game in which Nebraska easily could have, and perhaps should have, won was instead turned into an ugly loss.
How ugly was it? Nebraska’s star cornerback, Alfonzo Dennard, was ejected from the game for fighting with Alshon Jeffery.
So does this problem start right at the top with Bo Pelini?...
Mistakes Doom Huskers Against South Carolina
It wasn't clear whether Nebraska would be able to compete with a team like South Carolina. The good news for the Huskers was that they found that they could physically for most of the day. The bad news was that they still came up well short due to a lot of sloppy play. Critical plays at critical times doomed Nebraska.
