Carter and Hogue Pacing Respective Units

Senior running back Delone Carter and junior linebacker Doug Hogue caught the attention of Orange head coach Doug Marrone during the first of two practices on Monday. Carter, who missed the 2007 season due to a dislocated hip and some of the 2008 season with a hamstring injury, is battling with sophomores Antwon Bailey, Averin Collier and Michael Jones for the carries. Hogue moved out of the crowded offensive backfield to linebacker prior to 2009 Spring practice and is listed as the starter at strongside linebacker. Carter, Hogue and the Orange face Minnesota in the 2009 season-opener on Saturday, Sept. 5 in the Carrier Dome (12:00 p.m., ESPN2).
