In October of last year, Louisville head coach Charlie Strong signed a two-year contract extension, making the deal an overall seven years. Although the team was just 2-4 at the time, Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich knew good things were to come and did what was needed to keep Strong happy. With the reconstructed deal, Strong’s annual salary was raised to $2.3 million through 2018. If he’s still the coach on June 30, 2015, he will receive a bonus of $1.25 million, plus a $1 million annuity to be paid when he’s 65. He will also receive loyalty bonuses of $1 million in 2016, $200,000 in 2017 and another $200,000 in 2018. Prior to the start of the 2012 season, Strong was the 22nd highest paid football coach in the country. This was by far Strong’s most successful season at Louisville and he will be rewarded for it based on the achievement bonuses that were worked into his contract.
