There is no denying that the Kansas Jayhawks struggle when it comes to recruiting for their football team. With schools in the Big 12 with such deep tradition like Oklahoma and Texas, it is difficult for them to compete and convince kids that there is another team in Lawrence besides the basketball squad. One has to get creative with their recruiting pitch, and while many will throw out clichés to try to entice high school players and remind them about all the winning that takes place at their school, Charlie Weis took another approach, and that was banging on his own team. While speaking at the Big 12 media days, Weis said that he was extremely blunt and honest with the recruits whose homes he visited. From the Kansas City Star: “Everyone wants to play. There’s no one that wants to not play. I said, ‘Have you looked at that pile of crap out there?
