Sporting News staff reports
Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly told the Cincinnati Enquirer that quarterback Tony Pike might be able to play Saturday against Louisville.
Kelly did not think Pike would be ready to play this week following the Bearcats' win over South Florida last Thursday, when Pike sprained his left wrist and aggravated a plate inserted in his left forearm.
Now, Pike is listed as day-to-day. Kelly explained, "They're saying they have to find out whether they've got to do anything with the plate that's in there. It they've got to open him up, he could get swelling in that left hand. That could be an issue relative to catching the snaps. He's got to be able to catch the shotgun snaps. He goes back to University Hospital (Monday) and they'll make a decision."
