With no opponent on the schedule this weekend, Charlie Strong says his team will get back to the basics. Fortunately, Strong says the bye week came at a perfect time.
“We’re getting ready to step into the conference and I think just that since we’ve had a long fall camp and now this is the first time they really get a rest, it came at the right time,” Strong said during Monday morning’s AAC teleconference.
“We really need a rest before we start into this conference schedule, then we get another bye week. You can break down this season. We just finished the first phase, and now we’re ready to step into the second phase.”
Strong also said that he and his staff will travel to watch some of their current commitments from the 2014 class on Friday evening. “Our coaches will go out later in the week and go watch a game on Friday night and watch some of the recruits who have committed to us,” says Strong. “We like to go watch them play.”
