Sports Talk Buzz:
This Saturday the No.7 ranked Florida Gators will travel to take on the Tennessee Volunteers, in a classic SEC showdown. It will be the first action for both teams in SEC play. The Gators improved to 2-0 on the season with a convincing win over South Florida last week, while the Volunteers dropped to 1-1 after being crushed by Oregon 48-13 at home. Taking a look at the college football odds for this game, the oddsmakers currently have Florida favored by 14-points over Tennessee.

Florida went into halftime against South Florida tied 7-7, but poured on the offense in the second half, as the Gators outscored the Bulls 31-7 in the final two periods of play. Running back Jeffery Demps was impressive on the ground in the win, as he carried the ball 11 times for 139 yards, including a nice 62 yard run that went for a touchdown.
Quarterback John Brantley had another solid day throwing the football, as he connected on 18 of 31 attempts for 172 yards and two touchdowns. It looks as though the Gators will be without wide out Chris Rainey this weekend, as Rainey was recently arrested for stalking. Not good news for a Florida offense that still has plenty of room for improvement.
The Volunteers owned a 13-3 lead over Oregon with just under three minutes to go in the first half of play, but the Ducks managed to score twice before half to tie it up at 13 all. Oregon then went on to pour on the points, as they scored five second half touchdowns to finish the game with 45 unanswered points.
The Volunteers only touchdown came early in the second quarter from running back Tauren Poole, who ended up having a pretty good game with 162 yards on 23 carries. Quarterback Matt Simms struggled to get things going against the Ducks defense, as he finished the game with just 151 yards passing with no touchdown and an interception. While the defense really fell apart in the second half of this game, the offense has to able to put more points on the board if they plan on competing in the SEC this season.
Looking at the Odds: Pretty easy to see why the Gators come in heavy favorites this weekend after the performances these two teams put up last week, but this is going to be a very good test for Florida early in the season. It will be the Gators first game away from home in 2010. As of right now I think you have to take the Volunteers at +14 on their home field, as the Gators offense has had its struggles at times, and I think they will have even more struggles on the road. I look for the game to be close early, with Florida pulling away late for the win. My final score prediction is Florida 27, Tennessee 17.
