Week one in college football is approaching.  Where are we best served to go with our NCAA football picks to start off the season on a positive note?

We're only about six weeks away from another college football season and we're sure you're excited as we are about what's to come.

As for some interesting Week 1 matchups, there are definitely some out there.

Defending national champion Alabama will face off against Michigan in what should be an outstanding game. Oddsmakers have the Crimson Tide favored by 10 points.

The world witnessed an overwhelmingly dominating performance from Nick Saban's crew in the BCS Championship Game last season. Can they start off their title defense with a victory over Denard Robinson and the Wolverines?

LSU, the runners-up, have opened as three-touchdown favorites over Washington in their Week 1 encounter. Keith Price and the Huskies are going to need to execute perfectly to outlast a ferocious Tigers defense.

Elsewhere, Michigan State/Boise State should be fantastic to watch as well. The Spartans are favored by just over a touchdown at home.

We've learned never to count the Broncos out, even with a boatload of players moving on. Chris Petersen is 73-6 in seven years with the program and this team is coming off a 12-1 record last year. However, with so many starters not around anymore, this could turn out to be somewhat of a rebuilding year for Boise State.

Vanderbilt hosts South Carolina and that game will be televised on ESPN. The Commodores have opened as 9.5-point underdogs there and we think they may be worth a close look with your NCAA football picks. Head coach James Franklin has changed the culture and there's definitely talent down in Nashville.

We're also excited for West Virginia/Marshall, Clemson/Auburn, and even Notre Dame/Navy in Week 1.

BUTT OF THE JOKE

Alabama fan pulls off vulgar vanity plate

Someone at the Alabama DMV is probably getting fired or a medal for letting this go through their system. This Alabama Crimson Tide fan got basically got the DMV to give him a license plate that reads like a curse word using the Crimson “A”. It’s actually genius. Alabama and Nick Saban will chalk this up as their 15th championship. ROLL TIDE Y’ALL. Trolling National Champions!

McCarron's absence a symptom of Saban's system

It isnt like there arent plenty of questions for him. Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarrons last football game was the BSC National Championship where he was offensive MVP. Not only that, McCarrons backup, Phillip Simms, the guy who...

Reuben Foster commits to Auburn and spurns the Crimson Tide

The Alabama Crimson Tide are having a rough day today. Kristen Saban is all in the news for beating up a sorority sister and Reuben Foster just committed to the Auburn Tigers instead of the Alabama Crimson Tide. I’m sure Gene Chizik is smiling from ear to ear. I’m sure Nick Saban is telling someone to “SETTLE THE F#$K DOWN!” right now. The number two recruit in the nation...

Tide’s Lester On Thorpe Watch List

There are going to be precious few pre-season watch lists of the nation’s finest college football players that don’t include at least one member of Coach Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide. Another list is out today and as almost all of them, it includes a Bama star.

Covering Dixie Like Mildew: Nick Saban on playoffs, Connor Shaw, David Yost's hair, and more.

(Covering Dixie Like Mildew is the SWRT roundup of SEC news, with the occasional pesky Southern school from another conference.)
