Eddie Lacy rushed for three first-half touchdowns, AJ McCarron set Alabama's single-season record for passing TDs and the fourth-ranked Crimson Tide routed Western Carolina 49-0 on Saturday.
Alabama (10-1) rebounded from a loss to No. 9 Texas A&M by building a 42-0 halftime lead against the Catamounts (1-10), a Football Championship Subdivision team with two wins in as many seasons. It was Alabama's third shutout this year.
McCarron completed all six of his attempts for 133 yards and his 21st touchdown before exiting midway through the second quarter. Lacy ran for 99 yards on 10 carries with two 7-yard touchdowns and a 3-yarder. Neither played after halftime.
Cornerback Deion Belue returned a fumble 57 yards in the final seconds before halftime.
The 42 points were the most Alabama had scored in the first half since producing the same amount against Georgia State on Nov. 18, 2010.

Another day at the office for Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron and the Crimson Tide football team as they subdued the outmanned Catamounts of Western Carolina 49-0 at Bryant-Denny Stadium on a beautiful, bright sunny day in Tuscaloosa. Scoring touchdowns was never in doubt against the now 1-10 (0-8 SoCon) Southern Conference Football Championship Subdivision school.
It has been well documented at this point that the Crimson Tide fan base was keen on Bama running the ball on fourth and goal instead of having A.J. McCarron throw the ball. Obviously the ball was picked off, and their shot at beating Texas A&M and staying undefeated went out the window. It wasn’t just your run of the mill Alabama fan that wanted them to run the ball though...
Mark Ingram to Trent Richardson to Eddie Lacy to Derrick Henry. The very recent tradition of superlative Alabama Crimson Tide running backs continues with the kid who broke the all time high school rushing record.
Henry ran for 482 yards on Friday night against Perry (Fla.) Taylor County to bring his career total up to 11,612 yards.
He broke the record of somebody you’ve never...

Hope you're happy, Coach Sumlin: This game was over before it began. One of the many FCS Sothern Conference teams the SEC will square off with Saturday, the Crimson Tide got back on track after its upset at the hands of Texas A&M, taking out the Catamounts, 49-0. It was Nick Saban's defense's third shutout of the season, the first...
