West Virginia Mountaineers Athletic Director Oliver Luck has come out in support of head coach Dana Hologorsen. Holgorsen, who's team just finished up a 4-8 campaign, is probably hearing the whispers, but at least he has the university's backing, for now at any rate. The Mountaineers finished one of their worst seasons in recent memory. In fact, the last time the Mountaineers finished with a losing record was 2001, when they went 3-8. So you'll understand if West Virginia supporters aren't feeling too supportive. When Holgorsen was hired, he was given a 6-year deal with a base salary of $2.3 million, and raises throughout the contract to bring his final year salary to $2.9 million. So you're basically looking at a buyout of $2.5 million per season. Right now, that would be check for about $5.5 million. And there's the rub.No matter how much Luck believes or doesn't believe in Holgorsen, he isn't going anywhere right now. Realistically, he has two more years to right the ship before the university fires him for his record. Now, for other behaviors? Completely justified. But if the last two seasons are any indication, West Virginia fans might as well cozy up to the bar for a spell. It could be long night.
