With an internet full of news about Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer’s recruiting practices, some information hitting the net has made it look as if Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio was one of the instigators. On Friday night, Dantonio released the following statement on the subject.

Urban Meyer fires back at critics

The new OSU head coach is apparently already ruffling the feathers of his colleagues in the Big Ten, but Meyer took little time to offer a fiery retort, firing back at those who criticized his recruiting habits.

Michigan State Football: Mark Dantonio Has The Future Looking Bright For the Green & White

When Mark Dantonio made his return to East Lansing, he brought along a staff that was commited to creating a consistent environment. The football program had been through years of inconsistency, seasons with big wins over talented opponents and head scratching loses to in-conference bottom feeders. The university had been written off as a basketball school, with a middle of the pack...

Big Tentacles: Urban Meyer, Mark Dantonio, Bret Bielema, and more.

(Big Tentacles is the SWRT look at the Big Ten and the schools it not-so-secretly covets.) What's mine is mine, what's yours is mine. Michigan State Football Recruiting: Signing Day Wrap Up

Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio stressed today about how important recruiting team needs and team fit is over anything.  Michigan State is never a top any major recruiting rankings and rarely has cracked anyone’s top 25 rankings but that doesn’t matter to Dantonio. “We have not signed a big class since we got here, I think we have a lack of attrition, that...

Meyer at odds with Big Ten coaches?

SEC-style recruiting isn't looked upon fondly by Big Ten coaches, especially the manner in which the new OSU coach allegedly "poached" players who had previously committed to other Big Ten teams.

Urban Meyer, Already Rocking the Big 10 Boat

Earlier this week, there were rumblings from Michigan State DC Pat Narduzzi that Urban Meyer was not recruiting wholely on the up-and-up. Narduzzi called out Meyer for breaking a “gentlemen’s agreement” between the new OSU coach and his former assistant, MSU head coach Mark Dantonio. Narduzzi’s comments were short and seemed to lack any emotion. They were...

Ohio State's Meyer defends recruiting practices

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- There must have been a lot of interesting give-and-take when the Big Ten football coaches met at the conference offices on Friday. New Ohio State coach Urban Meyer faced off with at least a couple of coaches who have been reported saying they question his poaching of recruits who had already committed to other programs. Meyer's first recruiting class...

Will Urban Meyer Provide Needed Wake-Up Call for Big Ten?

When Urban Meyer was named Head Coach at the Ohio State University everybody thought he would be successful. I'm not sure they thought he would be successful this quickly. Meyer has always been a top notch recruiter and his recruiting has ruffled some feathers in the B1G. Meyer flipped Wisconsin verbal commit OL Kyle Dodson and Michigan State verbal commit Se'Von Pittman...

Donovan Talks About Recruiting Philosophy

Urban Meyer has caused some controversy in the Big Ten after recruiting players that were committed to Wisconsin coach Brett Bielema and Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio. Bielema has been vocal about his displeasure, saying that there is a gentleman’s agreement in the Big Ten not to recruit players to other schools. Donovan weighed in on the state of basketball recruiting.

Wisconsin's Bret Bielema unhappy with Urban Meyer's recruiting tactics

Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio isn't the only one irked with Urban Meyer's recruiting tactics.Count Wisconsin's Bret Bielema as another.

Urban Meyer has a case of potty mouth while responding to fellow Big Ten coaches' criticism.

Urban Meyer has only been head football coach of Ohio State for a little over two months, but he's getting a nasty little reputation in the Big Ten as a coach who goes after other college's recruits. Meyer's "what's mime is mine, what's yours is mine" recruiting philosophy isn't winning him any friends in fellow Big Ten coaches like Michigan State...

Madaris signs with MSU

Concerns about whether four-star receiver Monty Madaris was having second thoughts about his verbal commitment to Michigan State can be put to rest. Michigan State announced Thursday morning, a day after National Signing Day, that it had received Madaris' official letter of intent. Madaris is ranked as the No. 159 player overall and No. 26 receiver by Scout.com. "Monty...

Friday's Buckeye Bits

Good Friday morning! Another lovely early spring day here in Columbus. Fair warning, this weather has brought on the usual nasty cold, so my writing may be somewhat Nyquil-affected. So the news that Fielding Yost is objecting to Wes Fesler's recruiting tactics should come as no shock to anyone. Well, actually, Bret Bielema is the one that's not happy. "We at the Big...
