Whatever It Takes, BuddyIn what was an otherwise uneventful loss to the Marlins featuring a JV starting lineup, at least one intriguing moment did arise during this afternoon's 7-3 Marlins victory over the Mets at CitiField. As the Metros showed a little fight in the bottom of the ninth, the camera panned to David Wright who had picked up a bat in preparation for a potential pinch-hit appearance. Manuel had given D-Wright the day off, and the viewing audience got a chance to see Mr. Wright going through a little prep work. We're sure someone will have video of this soon enough, but his dugout ritual of lapping up the barrel of the bat seemed...well...slightly abnormal. It was a good long tongue lapping from about midway down the barrel up. Very awkward. But, then again, what do we know. If licking a little ash (ok, probably maple but we it was a fat one right over the plate) helps him improve his production with RISP, we're all for it. You do your thing, David.
