The Cardinal Connect:
It’s hard to argue that Dominique Brown wasn’t the most impressive player on the field at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Teddy Bridgewater and D’Vante Parker were both impressive as well, but Brown may have stood out more than anyone else. That is probably due to the fact that Louisville fans haven’t seen him since the 2011 season when he led the team in rushing.
Charlie Strong met with the media last week and spoke glowingly about how well Brown has been playing during spring ball. Not only did Strong mention that he was pleased to have Brown back on the field, but he also said the Cincinnati native is playing better than ever.
Brown came to Louisville as a quarterback in 2010, but was third on the depth chart. As a true freshman he saw most of his action as a wide receiver. Three games into the 2011 season, Brown was still third on the depth chart at QB and Louisville had a full roster of natural wide receivers.
He didn’t see much action at all in the first tw...

When it comes to the starting quarterback position for the 2013 Louisville Cardinals, they’ll be no competition for the gig. Teddy Bridgewater, a preseason Heisman candidate has it in the bag. However for the first time in a few years, prior to spring practice, Louisville fans were uncertain who would be the back-up.
Now that spring camp is over, it appears that redshirt freshman...
The verbal commitments continue to roll in for Charlie Strong and the Louisville football program.
Marques Gayot, a 6-foot-1 205-pound safety from Lake Worth, FL., is the second recruit that has given Louisville a verbal commitment today.
Gayot is rated as a 3-star prospect and has scholarship offers from California, South Florida and Florida Atlantic.

There was a lot of chatter going on in early January about Louisville looking to add a marquee non-conference game to the 2013 schedule. The rumors were flying that Louisville and Alabama were in talks to open the season at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, but as time went on, that rumor disappeared.
It turns out Louisville was in fact looking to add a big time non-conference opponent...
For the fourth time in six days, the Louisville football program has picked up commitment from the 2014 class.
Kavaris Harkless, a 6-foot-5 275-pound offensive lineman from Jacksonville, FL., verbally committed to Charlie Strong earlier this morning.
Harkless is rated as a 3-star prospect and has scholarship offers from Duke, Central Florida, Iowa State, Minnesota and Maryland. Vanderbilt...
Louisville coach Rick Pitino made a promise to his team during the regular season that if the Cardinals won the NCAA title, he’d get himself a tattoo. Since Pitino is a man of his word, he’s holding up his end of the deal.
Pitino told CBS, “It will be a cardinal and it will say 2013 champions.” As WDRB sports writer Eric Crawford just tweeted out, it will be this cardinal...

Charlie Strong is having to beat away the recruits with a stick.
Not really, but he has a lot of guys wanting to hop on the train right now. After adding two commitments over the weekend, Strong has landed two more commits today. The first came from offensive lineman Kavaris Harkless. The 6-5, 275-lb Harkless is from Jacksonville, Florida and a three-star recruit...
University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong and his staff have been on a recruiting roll in recent days. The Cardinals have added five new commitments, bringing the total number of commitments in the Class of 2014 to seven. Cardinal Authority talked more in-depth with the two latest commitments:
The Louisville Cardinals are showing their support for the Boston Marathon victims and our great country by wearing these uniforms on Tuesday night against hated-rival Kentucky.
The University of Louisville football programs roll of commitments continued on Tuesday afternoon as the Cardinals landed a sixth pledge for the Class of 2014. Jacksonville, Fla., Trinity Christian offensive lineman Kavaris Harkless became the latest prospect to give Charlie Strong a commitment.
Arguably the most beloved Louisville Cardinal of all time will be making a public appearance this weekend. Gorgui Dieng will be have a meet & greet autograph signing on Saturday at Prime Lounge in downtown Louisville at 101 W. Main Street. You can purchase pre-sale tickets to secure your spot in line before the general public.
I think we all pretty much knew that Gorgui wouldn’t...

Scheduling in the world of the current BCS system is a bit of a catch 22, if you aren't in one of the big four conferences, and perhaps no other team heading into 2013 better represents that catch 22 than the Louisville Cardinals. On Monday night ESPN's Brett McMurphy reported that Louisville, coming off of an Allstate Sugar Bowl victory...
Great to have a University of Louisville fan as a wife with another birthday coming up.
The limited edition Louisville Slugger bats commemorating the UofL basketball team’s NCAA Championship are gone. Sold out, all 2,013 of them in less than four days.
Die hard fans can still obtain a similar bat, but they won’t include the limited edition number, the Cardinal head or UofL logos...
Fresh off a national championship run, Rick Pitino can now look forward to the 2013 Kentucky Derby. Pitino is co-owner of three-year-old thoroughbred Goldencents, who earned a victory in the Santa Anita Derby in California by one-and-a-quarter lengths a couple of weeks ago.
Pitino has been in the horse racing business for over a decade, but this will be the first time he’s had...
University of Louisville sophomore guard Kevin Ware has earned a lot of national attention since his horrific broken right leg against Duke in the Elite Eight game of the NCAA Tournament. Now, Ware is headed to the White House.
If you missed Wednesday’s edition of Inside The Press Box, here is the podcast. Click here to listen from your mobile device. On Wednesday’s show I talked a little more in depth about Russ Smith’s situation. It sounds like Louisville fans can relax for now. At least until April 28th. I also went down the roster and gave each player a letter grade on the 2012-13 season. Tune...
