The Duke Football team has been banged up of late, as all teams are this late in the season. The defensive side of the ball has been especially hurt up and though they’ve been playing extremely well lately, a healthier D will be able to keep teams at bay even better than they have.
None of the defensive ends are on the injury report this week, which should help Duke contain Miami QB Jacory Harris as he’s always a threat to run. Both Justin Foxx and Jordan Dewalt-Ondijo have spent time on the list in the past and with Kenny Anunike out for the year, those guys being healthy is integral to Duke being able to pressure the quarterback.
Johnny Williams has been hurt for a few weeks but last week’s play by Jordan Byas makes me feel a little better about Johnny being out. The move from special teams went better than anyone could have thought for the redshirt junior. Only Matt Daniels was delivering more punishing blows last week.

Duke Shaw Game Evaluation (Duke 80 Shaw 66)
Last week I put out a request for contributors to the site. While many have expressed interest, Raymond Horn came through in a big way with his review of the Duke-Shaw exhibition game. I hope we get to read more of his works as the year goes on. Here’s the first installment of his game evaluations and previews.
The question wasn’t whether the Duke Blue Devils would defeat...
Duke Gets by Shaw 80-66
The Duke Blue Devils are clearly not the team that they will be a week, a month or 3 months from now and it is definitely showing on the court. The Devils had a half of struggle in it’s first exhibition of the season against Bellarmine before blowing the Knights out and in exhibition number 2 Shaw would not go away losing eventually to the Devils 80-66, a score you would...
Mitch McGary Set To Announce His College Decision
One of Duke Basketball’s biggest (literally and figuratively) recruiting targets in the Class of 2012 will announce his decision live on ESPNU’s Recruiting Insider show at 5 PM EST today. After flying under the radar for much of his high school career until transferring to Brewster Academy for a prep year — his 5th of high school, Duke began recruiting the big man...
Duke Comes in at #4 in Initial Pomeroy Rankings
Screen shot from RushTheCourt.net
Duke Basketball has long been known as a very balanced team, with legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski blending a high pressure man-to-man defense with a fast-paced offense. While the Blue Devils lost a ton of that scoring and defense, as well as leadership in the form of Kyle Singler, Nolan Smith, and #1 draft pick Kyrie Irving in the offseason, every...

Young Duke Team Still Learning to Play Defense
There are those that may argue that Duke isn't all that young a team but when you consider just how little the current core of players have played together they really are a new group. The evidence can be seen in the first two exhibition games and more specifically how the Blue Devils played defense in those games.
Against Bellarmine last Saturday Duke struggled at times to...
Game Preview: Miami
For the second week in a row, Duke football is looking to put a tough loss behind it and regain some traction towards a bowl bid. In order to keep postseason dreams alive, the Blue Devils must win at least three of their final four contests and with three of the games coming on the road it certainly won't be an easy challenge to overcome.
