Dominique Sherrer ran for a touchdown and Eastern Michigan piled up 336 rushing yards on the way to a 14-7 victory over Alabama State on Saturday.
Sherrer finished with 111 yards on 16 carries, while Javonti Greene ran 22 times for 146 yards for the Eagles (2-0), who held Alabama State of the FCS to minus-13 yards rushing.
Quarterback Alex Gillett ran for 74 yards - including a 58-yard run that set up Sherrer's 6-yard score in the third quarter - and threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Nick Olds for the game's only first-half points.
The Hornets (1-1) got on the board on Devin Dominguez's 22-yard pass to T.C. McWilliams.
