Denard Robinson held off Ryan Swope in the voting to be this year’s “NCAA Football” cover athlete. EA Sports released the Robinson cover on Tuesday, conveniently as Robinson ran the gauntlet through interviews on several ESPN programs. The game will be available on July 9.
Robinson is the second Wolverine to appear on the cover of the popular game — Desmond Howard, striking his famous Heisman pose, was featured on “NCAA Football 06″. EA Sports also used Michigan State’s mascot, Sparty, for the cover of its “NCAA Football 09″ on the Wii.
“Shoelace” was one of eight semifinalists for the cover vote honor, joining Notre Dame’s Tyler Eifert, Alabama’s Eddie Lacy, Ohio State’s John Simon, Georgia’s Jarvis Jones, Florida State’s E.J. Manuel, Oregon’s Ken-Jon Barner and Swope.
Next up for Robinson is the 2013 NFL Draft, which takes place Thursday through Saturday at Radio City Music Hall in New York. Robinson’s best hope for a selection likely comes in Day 3 (Rounds 4 through 7), though he could sneak into the third round on Day 2.
