During Louisville’s 44-7 win over Eastern Kentucky on Saturday, I saw something for the very first time. Head coach Charlie Strong actually looked disappointed in something that quarterback Teddy Bridgewater had done. Late in the second quarter, the Cards had the ball at midfield with a 4th& two situation. As you could expect, Charlie Strong sent the punt team on to the field. Teddy then waved them off and started to gather the offense in the huddle and call a play. It took Charlie Strong less than a second to call a timeout and send the punt team back on to the field. Late last week it was revealed that Bridgewater actually has the option to make the play calls at times for the Louisville offense. However, Coach Strong apparently didn’t agree with this one. “Sometimes you gotta’ take the keys from the kid,” Charlie Strong said jokingly after the game.
