Clive Walford Today, the Miami Hurricanes held their second to last day of practice during fall camp on the baseball field at Mark Light Stadium.  We spoke to head coach Al Golden before practice for the first time since Friday’s scrimmage and he was pleased overall but still admitted that the team had a long way to go.  He did say, however, that a lot of progress can be made over the course of six or seven days which he called a ‘long time’ in college football. On the field for the first time were all formerly injured Hurricane players as none of them were in red (no contact) or yellow (limited contact) jerseys.  Though some were visibly limping around and practicing through nicks and bruises.  Of particular note is coach Golden’s concern about the depth at wide receiver. Because of the lack of scholarship wide outs on the team (eight by our count), Golden is concerned that an injury at that position will leave the team in a tight spot.  The team only recruited one incoming scholarship freshman, Stacy Coley, a five-star prep athlete that’s been turning heads in camp.  But with starters Allen Hurns, Rashawn Scott and Malcolm Lewis all dinged up, there is concern about this unit and the depth that may not hold.   Practice on the baseball field At least three new wide outs (by our count) have been added to the Hurricanes roster since last week.  There’s going to be a renewed emphasis, Golden says, on recruiting at that position going forward. Noteworthy also is that Gus Edwards the true freshman linebacker is expected back tomorrow according to Coach Golden, but interestingly enough, Walt Tucker, also a true freshman, practiced at RB for what we think was the first time today. We didn’t see Danny Dillard today, so maybe that had something to do with it, though we don’t want to speculate.
