Ever heard the term “His bark is worse then his bite?” That was the case for Florida Gators linebacker Antonio Morrison who was arrested Saturday night/Sunday morning for “PUBLIC ORDER CRIMES: HARASS TEASE INTERFERE POLICE FIRE SAR ANIMAL.” In simple terms Morrison was arrested for barking at a police dog. Morrison, 19, was a bystander when Gainesville Police responded to a disturbance near an after-hours club where several arrests had been made in the past. Per the report, Officer William A. Arnold had a police canine named ‘Bear’ in the car and Morrison walked up to the vehicle and began to bark at the dog. Officer Arnold stated Morrison’s actions prevented police from do their job properly so he asked Morrison to step to the front of the vehicle. When the officer tried to detain Morrison with handcuffs, he resisted, the report states. People love dogs. We have laws that punish those who abuse them physically, and apparently there are laws to protect some from verbal assaults. At least in Florida they do for dogs with a badge.
