No. 23 Florida is going with Jeff Driskel at quarterback. Coach Will Muschamp says Driskel will start Saturday's game at Texas A&M and could keep the job for the remainder of the season. Muschamp picked Driskel over fellow sophomore Jacoby Brissett, saying Driskel's mobility was the key to the decision. Muschamp says ''it will be Jeff's game to play. I told him I don't want you looking over your shoulder, but you've got to play well.'' Driskel completed 10 of 16 passes for 114 yards in the opener against Bowling Green, including a 50-yard touchdown pass to Frankie Hammond that helped seal the 27-14 victory. Muschamp says Brissett was not happy with the decision, but the coach respects that kind of emotional reaction.

BREAKING NEWS: Florida Gators Plan To Use Jacoby Brissett AND Jeff Driskel In Games

Any talk about the Florida Gators recently has revolved around the quarterback “battle.” Fans want to know who the starter will be even though it realistically has never mattered (at least initially). I don’t say that in a condescending, smack-yourself-for-thinking-there-will-be-a-true-starter way, but deep down everyone had to have known what was ultimately coming – that...

2013 Football Recruiting: DeMarcus Walker To Alabama Crimson Tide Over Florida Gators

2013 defensive lineman DeMarcus Walker has made his decision and it’s not good news for the Florida Gators. On Friday night, Walker committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide over the instate orange and blue. The decision isn’t surprising as many had pegged Walker as a member of Bama’s class. Walker was on many a Florida fan’s wishlist, but fit may have played a role in his decision...

2013 Basketball Recruiting: Chris Walker Has Confidence, A Lot Of It; And We Like It

I’ve always found it humorous when people complain about athletes being cocky. To play at a high level, you must have a certain amount of confidence. Whether that’s “cocky” or not doesn’t really bother me. Future Florida Gators basketball player Chris Walker has confidence, a lot of it. When Walker committed to play for Billy Donovan at Florida, he guaranteed a national...

Post-Camp Defensive Overview: Front Seven

The front seven of the Florida defense wasn’t the run stopping unit the Gators were hoping for in 2011. Defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is hoping the added year of strength and experience changes that. The pass rush can also improve. The Gators added two freshmen that should help put pressure on the quarterback. The depth in the front seven is improved after the Gators return most players.

Louisiana Notebook

This is generally a slow time of year with recruiting news, although a few new offers have been handed out over the past couple of weeks. Last weekend, 2015 safety Hunter Dale (John Curtis Christian) visited the Florida Gators and departed from Gainesville with an offer in hand (his third) from head coach Will Muschamp. What is happening around the state with recruiting and jamboree action?
