Former Ohio State Buckeyes football coach Jim Tressel has traded in his whistle in favor of some chalk.Tressel will teach a course at the University of Akron this fall called "General Principles of Coaching" alongside former Zips coach Jim Dennison. Dennison was the one who gave Tressel his start in coaching after hiring the latter as an assistant at the school in 1974."He gave me my first opportunity to coach," Tressel said, "and he provided guidance that has lasted me a lifetime."The course will be open to Akron students and the general public. It is worth three credits and will be held once a week until December.Tressel has spent the last two years in an administration role at Akron after he was forced to resign at Ohio State in 2011 amid scandal. He won a national title in 2002 during his 10-year run with the Buckeyes.Tressel plans to have current Akron football coach Terry Bowden and men's basketball coach Keith Dambrot as guest lecturers for the course.Via USA TODAY
