From Lost Lettermen:

Former Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen sn’t exactly happy with the way things ended for him in College Park.

How do we know?

“Well, it’s not painful because I watch it for the kids. I could care less about Maryland,” Friedgen said in an interview with a Baltimore radio station when asked if it’s tough to watch Terps games this season.

“I’ve burned my diploma. I’m flying a Georgia Tech flag right now.”

A Maryland alum who served as Georgia Tech’s offensive coordinator before returning to College Park, Friedgen posted a 75-50 record in 10 seasons with his alma mater, earning seven bowl berths. He was let go after a nine-win season in 2010, saying that the Terps “didn’t show me a whole lot of Maryland pride” in reference to the abrupt end to his tenure.

It’s unclear if Friedgen was joking about the burned diploma (we’re guessing he was), but you can guarantee Maryland AD Kevin Anderson isn’t laughing. Maryland is off to a 1-2 start to the Randy Edsall Era and suffered a 38-7 beatdown at the hands of Temple last weekend.

The Terps play at Georgia Tech next Saturday. We can only hope “The Fridge” will be in the stands with a Yellow Jackets sweatshirt on.
