Hey there is an actual football game Saturday! The ACC Title game in Charlotte between Georgia Tech and Florida State. There’s still an Orange Bowl trip at stake, and with the Kent St. loss the likely opponent looks like Louisville. I’m sure the Orange Bowl, and John Swofford are rooting for Florida State to win tomorrow rather than have a 7-6 Georgia Tech team representing the ACC in the Orange Bowl. As far as Georgia Tech is concerned you can only take the conference pride thing so far. The Yellow Jackets have a shot at the Orange Bowl, you have to go for it obviously. Frankly Jimbo Fisher better hope he wins though, or FSU fans will turn on him faster that you can imagine especially after an ugly loss to arch-rival Florida. Here’s the preview from the ACCDN.   This article was originally published at http://www.AllSportsDiscussion.com. However a respected reporter and blogger in the DC area is reporting that trusted and good sources are telling him that both Georgia Tech and Virginia are set to leave the ACC and become the 15th and 16th members of the conference...

Georgia Tech ignores past, embraces opportunity

Georgia Tech football coach Paul Johnson is in no mood to discuss some of the realities surrounding his teams place in Saturdays ACC championship game. He doesnt want to hear that his club doesnt belong in the game or that its only there because North Carolina and Miami arent eligible. Dont remind him of his squads 6-6 record or that statistically it has almost zero chance of even...

Georgia Tech denies Big Ten defection rumors.

Georgia Tech is denying rumors swirling across the internet that it will be joining the Big Ten on Monday. "Georgia Tech president G.P. “Bud” Peterson met reports and rumors about the school leaving the ACC for the Big Ten head on Saturday night. “Not true. Not true,” Peterson said prior to the ACC Championship game. “We’re happy in the ACC. We’re staying...

No. 8 Georgia 60, Georgia Tech 50

Jasmine Hassell scored 22 points and No. 8 Georgia held Georgia Tech to 30 percent shooting in a 60-50 victory over their in-state rival Sunday. Georgia Tech (3-4) cut an 18-point deficit to six points with less than two minutes left, but Hassell hit a layup and Khaalidah Miller went 4-for-4 from the foul line in the final minute for the Lady Bulldogs (9-0). Hassell, a 6-foot-2...

Thoughts on FSU's ACC Title win Over Georgia Tech

First it was a heckuva effort by Georgia Tech. When they got down 21-3, it looked like there were going to get humiliated. In the 2nd half they played with a defensive effort and intensity that I haven’t seen all year. The Jackets went to an aggressive blitzing package that really threw the Seminoles off balance. Hint for Paul Johnson… You don’t have alot talent on defense...

Jimbo Fisher gets a cold ACC championship bath

It was  acold evening in Charlotte for the ACC championship game. Not so much for me and my northern blood traveling south for the day, but certainly for anyone from the deeper south than I. Like Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher, for instance. Moments after the final seconds ticked off the clock to wrap up Florida State’s first ACC championship since 2005, holding on to beat...

No. 13 Florida St.-Georgia Tech meet for ACC title

Florida State has no option but to stop the option - if the Seminoles want to win their 13th ACC title. Jimbo Fisher said Friday the key to the Seminoles winning another Atlantic Coast Conference championship and clinching an automatic bid to the Orange Bowl is shutting down Georgia Tech's triple option offense. The 13th-ranked Seminoles (10-2, 7-1 ACC) are two-touchdown favorites...

No. 13 Florida State 20, Georgia Tech 15: ACC championship all part of Jimbo's master plan

When you win an ACC championship, ESPN waits for you to check your text messages. From the day Jimbo Fisher took over for the legendary Bobby Bowden, he had a plan to return Florida State to greatness on a regular basis last seen in the 1990s. On Saturday night, with Florida State hanging on against upset-minded Georgia Tech in the ACC Championship Game for a 20-15 win, Fisher...

Mark Stoops has perfect finale with FSU

CHARLOTTE, N.C. An Atlantic Coast Conference championship that was seven years in the making turned out to a be a nail-biter. And in what he admits is likely his final game on the Florida State sideline, Mark Stoops had his defense turn in a memorable performance to wrap up the programs first conference title since 2005. Safety Karlos Williams had a game-clinching interception...

Quick Thoughts on Florida State’s ACC Title win Over Georgia Tech.

This will be a short post tonight, but I wanted to put some thoughts down on what I saw tonight in Charlotte, NC. First it was a heckuva effort by Georgia Tech. When they got down 21-3, it looked like there were going to get humiliated. In the 2nd half they played with a defensive effort and intensity that I haven’t seen all year.
