The Reds have a worse record, just traded away their two biggest bats (Griffey to White Sox, Dunn to D-Backs), sent down Pirate-killer David Ross to AAA, and are on a six game losing streak. The Pirates are coming off a great win, have their two best pitchers starting off the series, and are at home.-We all know these things don't always turn out the way we hope, but the Pirates definitely have a lot on their side this week.--We know about Karstens. 15 scoreless innings since becoming a Bucco. The near-perfect game last time out. Although these may be a result of a big park, new pitcher with little scouting, and other factors, it's still a great start for him. Tonight is his first game at PNC Park. I imagine he will be welcomed nicely, and the fans will probably be expecting ...
