(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated.) By MARK LONG AP Sports Writer It no doubt wasn't fair for former Florida coach Urban Meyer to compare receiver Andre Debose to Percy Harvin before he even stepped on campus.
Harvin was one of the top playmakers in school history. He turned short passes into huge gains, made defenders look silly with open-field moves and probably would have been a Heisman Trophy contender had he not shared the spotlight with all-everything quarterback Tim Tebow.
Debose was supposed to fill the void created when Harvin left school early for the NFL in 2009.
Instead, the fourth-year junior has been mostly a disappointment. And he has seemingly taken a step back this season.
Debose doesn't have a catch for the 11th-ranked Gators, who are off this weekend. And it doesn't sound as if he's close to turning things around.

Jeff Driskel is the Florida Gators quarterback who won the starting job over Jacoby Brissett. He has been putting up video game like numbers and has helped propelled the Gators to 4-0.

A Florida Gator fan and Alumnus happened to be passing through Tallahassee this weekend and decided to make a pit stop on the exit to FSU. He urinated on the sign as a UF prank on FSU. Hey, if Florida can’t beat FSU on the field, they can still pull stunts like this.
This guy happens to have attended UF when I was there and is known for pulling pranks such as these. Both the Florida...
James Hearns (6'3/235) is a big, physical middle linebacker for Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Fla. He is committed to play football for the Florida Gators, and here is a look at him in action from a game against St. Paul of Covington, La.
After facing offenses like Tennessee and Texas A&M that wanted to throw the ball, the Gators are using the bye week to prepare for something different. LSU will bring a power, two-back run game to Gainesville on October 6. It’s an offensive scheme that gave Florida nightmares throughout the 2011 season, including its trip to Baton Rouge. The Gators have two weeks to prepare to stop it.
