As if the season wasn't bad enough for Gene Chizik and Auburn, it looks like it might be getting worse, at least on the surface."So, I think we were pretty awfu- I'm starting next week?"Today, Auburn announced that freshman quarterback Jonathan Wallace will be the starting quarterback this weekend when perennial Bottom 5 contender New Mexico State comes to town. In case you missed it, Wallace was the third string quarterback, after Kiehl Frazier and Clint Moseley. In last weeks 21-63 roasting by Texas A&M, Wallace was inserted after starter Frazier was sacked four times, and Moseley injured an ankle. Like I said above, this is only on the surface. For Auburn fans, though, knowing you're starting a freshman quarterback in the SEC might be cause to panic. Oh, but Auburn, that ship has already sailed. The Tigers are almost last in points per game and near the top in sacks allowed. And it's not like New Mexico State is going to bring the pain train by any means. New Mexico State does average more points, but i'm 999% sure that is a result of playing in the pass-happy WAC versus the "we actually play defense" SEC. The Aggies also give up 33 points per. If Chizik is itching for a change, this is definitely the time to pull the trigger.Chizik better hope he looks like a genius. Scheduling this game looked like a cake walk when they signed the deal. Now, Chizik has to be sweating bullets. If the Aggies actually pull the upset, Chizik is a dead man walking. And THIS would be one of the biggest upsets in college football, ever.
