Game of the century of the week.
I shouldn't be paying any heed to a vague sense of "intuition" when there are numbers and results to parse and scrutinize, but my general feeling toward Miami's trip to Virginia Tech is that there has to be some correction, some movement toward the prevailing wisdom of the past few seasons: Virginia Tech is too solid on defense, too fundamentally sound and too opportunistic to fall behind in the ACC race so early in the season, and Miami just the opposite -- too young, too inconsistent and determined to blow its chances at a great leap forward. Bluntly, Virginia Tech is always a tortoise-like winner in the long run and Miami is not, at least not lately; coming into the year, it was hardly conceivable that the 'Canes might be 3-0 after dates with probably the three best teams in the conference, and Saturday, in Blacksburg, is the perfect opportunity for the scrappy Hokies to fulfill that assumption.
And really, I still see Virgin...
