PLAYERS: Marcus Mariota
Yesterday on Comcast Sports Northwest, Jordan Kent, Anthony Newman and Joey Harrington were talking about Marcus Mariota. Is it a concern he hasn't played in a fourth quarter this year? Kent asked. Harrington said it was, a little bit, but he went on to say that "I think that he's the greatest quarterback to ever suit up for the Oregon Ducks." Quite a statement, considering that Harrington himself was 25-3 as an Oregon starter, 10-2 in fourth quarter comebacks. Two other Webfoot signal callers, Norm Van Brocklin and Dan Fouts, are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Another one, George Shaw, was an NFL #1 draft pick, first-team All-American in both football and baseball.   Harrington quarterbacked the Ducks to three bowl wins, the 1999 Sun Bowl, the 2000 Holiday Bowl over Texas, and the 2002 Fiesta Bowl over Colorado, their first BCS win. That team finished #2 in the country. Captain Comeback was a Heisman Trophy finalist as a senior. Mariota's 17-1 as a starter...

Week 6 Heisman Watch: It's Mariota's to Lose

Honestly, it's Marcus Mariota's world and we all just live in it.There are some things that have impressed me this college football season, Mariota being one of them. The Oregon Ducks quarterback just rolls up high numbers, runs to daylight and continues to take Oregon to heights unknown. This week, the numbers weren't bad. The Ducks feasted on the Colorado Buffaloes...

Oregon TE Pharaoh Brown Tweets That The Ducks’ 9-Game Win Streak vs. Washington Is “About To Be 10″

Oregon’s players definitely have the right to be confident heading into any matchup, but they’d be wise to take a few of their opponents more seriously than others. The Ducks travel to Husky Stadium for a tilt with No. 16 Washington this Saturday in what’s being billed as a “blackout” for fans, so the atmosphere is expected to be pretty rowdy. Still, Oregon sophomore tight...

A few speed bumps to Oregon's season

Oregon's season has come with a few speed bumps, but the No. 2 Ducks have managed just fine. Star running back De'Anthony Thomas sprained his ankle; tight end Colt Lyerla is gone, although his departure is not expected to have much impact. Next up for Oregon (5-0, 2-0 Pac-12) is Saturday's game at Washington (4-1, 1-1). Lyerla left the team Sunday, a day after he missed...

2014 NFL Draft: Scouting Notes from Oregon vs. Colorado

This was never really a close contest as the Ducks simply field much more talent than the Buffs, but there were plenty of noteworthy takeaways from prospects on both teams.  Mariota was up and down, Richardson padded more stats, and one under the radar prospect put together some quality film against top competition. (RsSoph) Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon, (#8), 6’4, 215...
