For the Warriors last night's thumping of Football Championship Subdivision Lamar was a great pick me up after being crushed by USC two weeks ago, UH won in dominant fashion 54-2 in what is likely to be Hawaii's most lopsided victory of the season.

The warriors started the festivities with three straight touchdowns in the first and second quarters as Sean Schroeder went 15 out if 23 foe 150 yards and  three touchdowns that put the spirited Cardinals in a deep hole early.

In all three drives Hawaii mixed in a punishing ground game as the Warriors sought to use their size to wear down their smaller and lighter foes. Hawaii followed those drives by blocking a punt with two minutes left before halftime.

In the second half Hawaii picked up right where it left off as Mike Edwards returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a backbreaking touchdown. Hawaii would close the third stanza with two field goals that put the Warriors up 41-0.

By the fourth quarter Hawaii's size and strength on the ground had clearly taken the steam out of Lamar's defenders and they proved incapable of stopping the warriors from adding two more touchdowns to seal the game 54-0. Lamar's only bright spot occurred on the botched extra point attempt on UH's seventh touchdown of the night. Lamar's Adrian Guillory returned it for two to give Lamar its only points of the night.

Special recognition should go to the Warrior defense for last night's sterling performance. Lamar was held to 44 yards on the ground and 85 passing. All in all a miserable night for Cardinal offense. Hawaii's pass rush resulted in three sacks and numerous knockdowns and stuffed the running game to a mere 1.6 yards per carry.

Next up for the Warriors is Mountain West opponent and longtime foe Nevada Wolf Pack.
