PLAYERS: Teddy BridgewaterCollin Klein
TEAMS:
Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein has vaulted to the top of the Heisman contenders, surprisingly to some. I ranked Klein 10th on the preseason Dynamic Dozen Heisman Contenders list in which I described him as a "Tim Tebow prototype on the football field"; a comparison coming up often lately in college football talk. I knew that his strong running dual threat ability would continue to thrive under coach Bill Snyder's system and also had him as my leader after week four. Maybe considered an emotional longshot favorite by some, Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o is a legitimate Heisman contender. Te'o leads one of the nation's top defenses (9.9 papg 2nd overall) while averaging nearly ten tackles per game. According to an ESPN broadcast, he is tied in the FBS for most turnovers generated with seven. He is talented enough, has good numbers, and has had moments on the field to qualify as a strong candidate for the Heisman Trophy. There have been a couple new a...

Kansas State QB Collin Klein suffers undisclosed injury in win over Oklahoma State.

Kansas State head football coach Bill Snyder is staying quiet about both the nature and the severity of an injury by starting quarterback Collin Klein during the Wildcats' win over 44-30 Oklahoma State. Klein sat out the game's final 25 minutes after being taken out in the third quarter. "Klein scampered up the middle on a designed run for a short gain when he...

No. 12 Louisville 45, Temple 17

Teddy Bridgewater threw a career-high five touchdown passes and No. 12 Louisville rallied once again, beating Temple 45-17 on Saturday. The Cardinals (9-0, 4-0 Big East) fell behind for the sixth straight game as they took time to adjust to their first noon kickoff of the season. But while Louisville's defense and special teams were slow to get going, Bridgewater and the offense...

Brendan's Heisman Ballot: Week 10

COLLIN KLEIN, QB, KANSAS STATE: Klein turned in another hardware-worthy performance against giant slayer Texas Tech, turning what started as a slugfest into another blowout Wildcats win...

K-State's Collin Klein Didn't Kiss His Wife Until Wedding Day

The presumptive Heisman front runner, Kansas State Wildcats quarterback Collin Klein, revealed in a recent interview that he didn't even kiss his wife until their wedding day. Klein was on The Jim Rome Show yesterday and told host Jim Rome that he didn't even share his first kiss until he married his wife, former Kansas State basketball player Shalin Spani. He also said...

Klein's injury couldn't come at a worse time

MANHATTAN, Kan. The good news is that whatever it was, based on the grins Collin Klein flashed for the television cameras late Saturday night, it couldn't have been too serious. Beyond that, speculate away. When it comes to discussing injuries, Bill Snyder makes Bill Belichick look like Perez Hilton. Klein, the Heisman Trophy front-runner, missed the last quarter-and-a-half...

Teddy Bridgewater with five touchdown passes, and Louisville is 9-0

Jeremy Wright breaks loose for a 32-yard jaunt late to Temple’s 4 yard line in the third quarter, setting up Teddy Bridgewater’s fifth touchdown pass of the day, a nine-yarder to Andrell Smith (see video below) two plays later. Wright would rush for 100 yards in Louisville’s 45-17 win.  Click here to view the video on YouTube.

Louisville Improves To First 9-0 Record In School History With 45-17 Win Over Temple

Considering the rough and slow start for the Cards it’s hard to say that they’ve finally put together a full four quarters of solid player, but with that said, today’s performance was as good as we’ve seen. Louisville crushed the Temple Owls 45-17 and improve to 9-0. This is the first time in school history that the football team has started 9-0. Louisville’s offense continued...

Top 10 College Football Programs Without A Heisman Winner

Hard to believe, but when Mark Ingram won the Heisman Trophy in 2009, it marked the first time in history that a player from the storied Alabama program won college football’s most prestigious award. That’s understandable, though. College football is a team sport and the Heisman is the ultimate individual award. Mutually exclusive, right? Not exactly: The six major-college programs...

Lunt hurt as Cowboys lose to No. 3 K-State 44-30

Once again, Oklahoma State and Kansas State traded scores - and lot of them. For the first time since 2006, the Cowboys didn't get the best of the Wildcats. Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein piled up more than 300 yards of offense before leaving in the third quarter with an undisclosed injury, and third-ranked Kansas State remained unbeaten with a 44-30 victory over the...

Jets' Tebow, K-State's Klein lead parallel lives

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) They've never met, never even talked, but they'd probably be best of friends. Both of them were home schooled, both are rooted deeply in their Christian faith. Both were standout prep players who overcame funky throwing motions to develop into bruising, run-first quarterbacks for two of college football's most accomplished coaches. All that Collin...

K-State-Oklahoma State preview

(AP) - All that Kansas State can do now is try to achieve perfection. That's all the third-ranked Wildcats control. Kansas State has already beaten two ranked teams on the road in Oklahoma and West Virginia, and it blitzed then-No. 15 Texas Tech 55-24 last Saturday to remain undefeated. The problem is that top-ranked Alabama, No. 2 Oregon and fourth-ranked Notre Dame are also...
