Nebraska coach Bo Pelini has promoted defensive line coach John Papuchis (Puh-POO-chis) to defensive coordinator and hired Rick Kaczenski (KUH-zin-ski) from Iowa to coach the line.
Papuchis takes over the coordinator position from Carl Pelini, who is the new head coach at Florida Atlantic.
The 33-year-old Papuchis was hired four years ago as an original member of Bo Pelini's staff. In addition to coaching the defensive line, he has been special teams coordinator and recruiting coordinator.
Kaczenski coached Iowa's defensive line for five seasons. He will coach for No. 21 Nebraska in the Capital One Bowl against No. 10 South Carolina on Jan. 2.
