It may have seemed so far away back in January when Alabama head coach Nick Saban raised that crystal football once again following the Crimson Tide’s victory over Notre Dame, but the 2013-2014 college football season has finally arrived. With the countdown now down to just a few more hours before the likes of South Carolina and North Carolina hit the field, let’s take a look at some projections for the upcoming season. First, let’s take a look at the conference champions and championship matchups: SEC: Alabama defeats Florida Big Ten: Ohio State defeats Nebraska Big 12: Texas ACC: Clemson defeats Virginia Tech PAC 12: Oregon defeats USC AAC: Louisville Mountain West: Boise State defeats Fresno State C-USA: Tulsa defeats Southern Miss MAC: Northern Illinois defeats Bowling Green Sun Belt: UL-Lafayette With the conference winners now decided, that means it’s time to look at the bowl matchups for the season: National Champs: Ohio State defeats Clemson 31-20 Now we shift the focus from the teams to the individual players. Here’s how I see the Heisman race playing out this year: 5. Marquise Lee, WR, USC 4. Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville 3. Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina 2. Braxton Miller, QB, Ohio State 1. AJ McCarron, QB, Alabama Now onto one of the most interesting parts of the end of the season: which coaches will be shown the door. It’s interesting to note that because there are so many head coaches that have three years or less at their current school, the number of schools that will be looking for a new guy is less than normal. Without further ado, here’s the schools I project will have a new head coach in 2014: Army – Rich Ellerson (fired) BYU – Bronco Mendenhall (fired) Eastern Michigan – Ron English (fired) Fresno State – Tim DeRuyter (new Kansas head coach) LSU – Les Miles (new Cowboys head coach) Kansas – Charlie Weis (fired) Michigan State – Mark Dantonio (new LSU head coach) Troy – Larry Blakeney (retired) UNLV – Bobby Hauck (fired) Wake Forest – Jim Grobe (retired) Wyoming – Dave Christensen (fired)   The NFL’s call finally reaches Miles Take Our Poll Disagree with my projections?
