FootBasket:
South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney will spend the next year just working and crafting his game, since NFL rules prevent him from entering the 2013 NFL Draft. While he’s getting better and working on his stock, Clowney can take time to start racking up awards.
ESPN is reporting that Clowney has won the Ted Hendricks Awardl, which is given to the nation’s top defensive end. This is the first time that a sophomore has won the award.
Clowney set a school record for sacks with 13, tackles for loss in a season with 21 and sacks in a single game with four against Clemson. He was chosen first-team All-SEC on Monday.
Teams might want to start positioning themselves to tank for that No. 1 pick in 2014, because next year will be this stud’s final collegiate season.
