Bryant was expected to be sidelined four to six weeks after suffering the injury late in a practice at the Alamodome two weeks ago. He's scheduled to begin serious rehab work today after having the walking boot removed Friday.
"He's doing well and we expected him to do well, by the way," Jones said. "I am hopeful we will have him back for those last two preseason games."
That would mean Bryant, the team's first-round draft pick, would be available starting with the Aug. 28 game at Houston. The Cowboys close their five-game exhibition schedule at home against Miami on Sept. 2.
