Ohio State head football coach Jim Tressel has been suspended by the school for two games following a Yahoo report that said Tressel was aware of NCAA violations by several of his players. He’ll also have to pay a $250k fine and attend a compliance seminar. 
The school announced the suspension at a Tuesday night news conference with Athletic director Gene Smith, school president Gordon Gee and Tressel in attendance.
I am sorry and disappointed this happened. At the time the situation occurred, I thought I was doing the right thing. I understand my responsibility to represent Ohio State and the game of football. I apologize to any and all of the people I have let down. I will grow from this experience.
The violations in question date back to last when when Terrelle Pryor, Dan Herron, DeVier Posey, and Mike Adams were found to have sold jerseys and other memorabilia to Edward Rife, who owns Fine Line Ink Tattoos in Columbus. Apparently, Tressel knew about the sale of merchandise but didn’t report it to the school or NCAA, thus the suspension.
