The coaches in the SEC are not sold on Johnny Manziel. Of course, they have the past month of developments at their disposal, compared to the media who voted Manziel as All-SEC 1st-Team. The coaches voting became public today and Manziel landed on the 2nd team, while Georgia’s Aaron Murray was voted to the 1st. Per CollegeFootballTalk: The conference released its preseason All-SEC teams Thursday afternoon, and there was what some would consider a surprise at the quarterback position. The 14 coaches, who can’t vote for their own players, tabbed Georgia’s Aaron Murray as the first-team SEC quarterback over Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel (second-team) and Alabama’s AJ McCarron (third-team). It certainly is rare to see a Heisman Trophy winner take a backseat to anyone, but when it is even more surprising when one considers that the SEC voted Manziel to the 1st-team at he end of last season and AJ McCarron to the 2nd-team. Our guess here is that many of the coaches, if not all, expect Manziel to come back to the pack and believe last year was a bit flukish in terms of the historical performance and numbers he put up.
