Saturday, Dec. 3
North Carolina (6-1) at Kentucky (6-0)
Where: Lexington, KY, Rupp Arena (23,500)
Fast break: This might be a matchup of the top two teams in the nation. Certainly they are the most talented. UK starts three freshmen, so maybe this is the best time of year for the more experienced Tar Heels to get them. But keep in mind, UNC won last years game in Chapel Hill but lost in the East Region Finals to the Wildcats. This should be a racehorse game, and the winner likely will be the team that is more efficient from the free throw line and avoids a key player or two getting into foul trouble. UNCs cage was rattled last week, and it will serve the Tar Heels well for some time.
Forecast: UNC, 85-80.
Longwood (2-5) at Virginia (6-1)
When: 1 p.m.
Where: Charlottesville, VA, John Paul Jones Arena (16,500)
Fast break: No way Longwood goes into JPJ and comes away with a win. UVa is too big and shoots too well from the perimeter.
Forecast: Virginia, 77-55.
