Julius Thomas TE Portland State
Ht: 6’5″
Wt: 245
Strengths:
Elite size and athleticism. Played basketball at Portland State, where he led the Vikings to two NCAA tournaments. In just one year on the football team he developed into a first-team all-conference player.
Weaknesses:
Limited experience. Only played one year of high school football and then one year in college as a senior. Hasn’t been tested against top competition.
Comments:
Thomas is a tough player to judge because he has so little experience. However, it’s tough to ignore what he accomplished in just one year of college football. He clearly has the athleticism to be an elite pass-catching tight end at the next level and should come off the board in the 3rd or 4th round as a result. He could become the highest drafted player from Portland State since Neil Lomax was selected in the 2nd round by the Cardinals in 1981.
