Tom Jurich met with the media this afternoon to discuss Louisville leaving the Big East to join the ACC. This is huge news for Louisville’s entire athletic program, but football is the one sport that needed to get out of the Big East as soon as possible.
As you can expect, media members asked Jurich how Louisville football coach Charlie Strong reacted to the news. Jurich said he broke the good news to Strong this morning and he was “tickled to death.”
“He’s excited,” says Jurich. “Oh he’s excited. He knows this is a great opportunity for his program. He’s my only barometer on this and he’s excited. This morning he was tickled to death.”
As good as it was to hear that Strong is excited about joining the ACC; there was one particular quote from the Jurich news conference that was slightly bizarre. “We’re going to do everything we can to keep our coaches,” says Jurich. “There comes a point where they have to want to be here.”
I’m not really sure what Jurich meant be saying there
