Found November 18, 2012 on College Football Zealots:
We came into this week of college football with three undefeated teams sitting at the top of the BCS rankings. It started to unravel when the seven o'clock games started. Kansas State traveled to Baylor and the Bears just seemed to have their number as they never trailed and pulled away in the third quarter. After the Bears put away the Wildcats, all the eyes turned to the Oregon/Stanford game. Oregon came into the game as an offensive juggernaut but the Cardinal defense clamped down and held the Ducks to just 14 points. Despite holding the Ducks to their season low, the Cardinal shot themselves in the foot with three turnovers and needed a controversial replay reversal on a Zach Ertz TD reception with 1:35 left to tie up the score and send the game into overtime. In OT, Oregon couldn't get it's offense going and settled for a FG attempt which they missed. Stanford nearly lost a fumble on their OT possession but recovered and hit the game winning FG to shock the college football world. Just when it looked like the SEC would be on the outside looking in at the BCS National Championship Game, crazy things happened. Both Kansas State and Oregon fell and now the SEC Championship Game is basically a play-in game to see who will face off with Notre Dame (if they can beat USC) for the National Championship. Alabama still has to get past Auburn and Georgia still has to get past Georgia Tech but all signs point to the match-up in Atlanta being a National Semi-Final.

Monday Medicine: Kansas State Wildcats

With all due respect to our Oregon readers, there's really no question who deserves this week's dose of Monday Medicine. The Ducks lost a nailbiter to a tough division opponent and are loaded with young talent and more Nike money than Michael Jordan's grandkids. Oregon will be back. Kansas State on the other hand...well, I just can't shake the feeling that this...

Baylor 52, Kansas State 24: Wildcats, Klein stunned by the Bears

Well college football fans, you knew this day was coming. You didn’t know when, where or how it’d hit, but you knew at some point, all college football common logic would go to hell and BCS chaos would ensue. Finally, it happened Saturday. And no place was the college football world flipped on its head quite like it was in Waco, TX.   That’s because while Oregon...

Baylor Spanks Kansas State, Sparks BCS Nightmare: The Good, Bad & Ugly

Kansas State Wildcats took their number one ranking and Heisman hopes to Waco Texas. The trip was not good.  The offensive play of the Wildcats was bad.  And the BCS ended the day in an ugly mix up. The final score was 52-24.  The win was epic.  The loss was catastrophic. While the moment was too big for the Wildcats' it seemed just right for the Bears.  The Bears came...

Wildcats stunned by Baylor

The game was not sealed early, and Kansas State did show more fight than the 52-24 score shows. But failed offensive opportunities allowed Baylor to crush the Wildcats in the end.

Big 12 Post-Week 12 Power Rankings

Kansas State remains atop the Big 12 power rankings, but the Wildcats are no longer in the driver's seat to play for a national title. Despite the...

Alabama No. 2 in BCS standings

After Kansas State and Oregon were upset Saturday night, Alabama is now No. 2 in the BCS standings behind undefeated Notre Dame. Georgia and Florida are lurking at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively.

A STINGING LOSS

MANHATTAN, Kan. - All that stood between Kansas State and a trip to the BCU national championship game was eight quarters of football. That was four against hapless Baylor, and four against Texas. Today, it is the Bears celebrating their first ever win against a No. 1 team in the nation, and K-State now needing a win over the Longhorns to win a Big 12 title.

Pereira: Replay refs cost Oregon

No. 2 Oregon should have ducked, but instead took one on the chin from Stanford late Saturday night. The No. 13 Cardinal probably knocked Oregon out of the national championship hunt with a 17-14 win in overtime, while No. 1 Kansas State was also getting upset by Baylor, scrambling the BCS picture yet again. But in my opinion, the Ducks have a big beef. Stanford benefited from...

ASU's Coyle lets numbers speak for themselves

TEMPE, Ariz. Chris Coyle gets very little local love. I usually get to slide around campus under the radar, ASUs tight end said with a smile. But Coyles Tempe attention feels like a glaring spotlight when compared to the attention he garners nationally. When the Mackey Award semifinalists for the nations top tight end were announced Monday, three of the eight players listed...

BCS aftermath: Oregon Ducks still alive

Down but not Out In stunning fashion on Saturday night, the Oregon Ducks lost in overtime to the Stanford Cardinal after Oregon was virtually unable to move the ball on offense against a stout and resilient Stanford defense. While the Cardinal’s touchdown will go down as one of the most controversial in Oregon history, (it looked as though Zach Ertz was out of bounds when he...

Stanford 17, Oregon 14: Hogan's heroes knock off Ducks, send BCS spinning

Stanford committed three turnovers in Eugene, but it was an overturned incomplete pass call with 1:35 remaining that allowed the Cardinal to upset No. 2 Oregon, 17-14, in overtime. Quarterback Kevin Hogan lofted a rainbow from 10 yards out to the left corner of the end zone that tight end Zach Ertz, a Duck defender draped all over him, caught for the game-tying touchdown. The...

Who Needs Luck? Stanford Cardinal Clips the Oregon Ducks In Overtime

Five times the Stanford Cardinal's went into Eugene Oregon.  Five times they came away defeated. This year the Oregon Ducks and their hopes for a BCS Championship game looked good.  The Ducks entered the Saturday night prime time game rated number two in the BCS standings.  They held the designation as the nations' highest scoring team averaging 54.8 points per game...
