Yes it has only been one day since the college football season has begun and we already have a blooper play to pass your way. Kent State’s Andre Parker recovered a fumble on about the Towson 10 or 15 yard line which could have easily be ran to the house for a touch down or at the very least if the ball did not advance set up his team’s offense in the red zone. Instead he has an absolute mental breakdown by running the WRONG WAY. Only to be pushed out of bounds by a Towson player at about the 30 yard line. Check out this play:

Wow, wow and wow. First of all Kent State is lucky they were up 24-7 at that time and continue cruising en route to a 41-21 victory so the play never ended up actually effecting the game outcome. Because as crazy as the publicity surrounding this play is now just imagine if Kent State ended up losing or winning the game by under a single possession.

As for the play itself it defines the lack of intelligence we see from football players time and time again. A saying that I have been preaching for many years now is “for all the athletic talent blessed with it has been compromised with lack of intelligence”. Honestly how hard is it to realize where you are on the field? If for some reason you are not sure just take a knee, it’s always better to guarantee recovering the football off a turnover. Because even if it wasn’t returned the possibility still exists that he could turn the ball over himself, especially if you are that clued out on the field.

When you talk about pure stupidity, how about the Towson player himself? Why on earth would you push him out of bounds? Was he that unaware of the situation that he had the same mental breakdown? Yes I think so.

OK. Enough ripping the college kids. They are playing the sport for all the right seasons as amateurs and are not at any big time school were as a society maybe we could have placed higher expectations on them. After all where you expecting terrific play out of a Kent State Towson football game? NO. If anything something like this is more likely to happen.
