USC football head coach Lane Kiffin debuted his new coaches show, "Trojans Live," produced by FOX Sports West and featured on KFWB NEWS TALK 980 on Thursday night. There was much debate on whether or not Kiffin would debut the show with a bang. Perhaps, by announcing a starting quarterback? The answer, as it was throughout every day of fall camp, was...no. He and wide receiver Marqise Lee did, however, find time to deliver ice cream to the USC Trojan Marching Band Thursday afternoon on Dedeaux Field. As for the quarterback battle between Cody Kessler and Max Wittek? "Our answer is still the same," Kiffin said Thursday night. "We have not made that decision. "We got to make sure that we find the right guy. Who's going to be the right guy for this football team right now?" Thursday marked an off-day for the Trojans, and a break, as fall camp has officially ended. When the team returns to practice to begin preparations for their season opener at Hawaii a week from Thursday, they'll do so with closed practices. The policy was implemented by Kiffin earlier this summer, and practices will be remained close throughout the season. Who will be under center for the Trojans at Hawaii continues to be the big question. Kessler appeared to have put a stranglehold on the competition after the Trojans' second scrimmage in the Coliseum last week. The door may have reopened Wednesday after USC's mock game. Kessler threw his first two interceptions in the Coliseum, both on tipped passes. It marked the first time he'd thrown an interception in the Coliseum during fall camp. Wittek, meanwhile, led four scoring drives three first half field goals and also connected with Nelson Agholor for a 38-yard touchdown in the second half. Wittek, who's been the least accurate of the two during fall camp, completed 15-of-20 passes on Wednesday. In the team's trips to the Coliseum during camp, two scrimmages and the mock game, Kessler completed 44-of-66 passes for 570 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions. Wittek completed 30-of-47 for 439 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Interestingly enough, Wittek's 15 completions in Wednesday's mock game matched his total number of completions in the first two scrimmages combined. His passing yards, 231, also surpassed the 208 passing yards he had in the first two scrimmages combined. Of course, the black eye for the redshirt freshman from Mater Dei is his 2-of-7, 15-yard performance when he got the start in scrimmage No. 2. Kiffin has said he'd prefer to not have a two-quarterback system when the team takes on Hawaii, but just seven days out, it's looking more and more like a possibility.
