In my opinion, Louisville’s offensive play calling and Teddy Bridgewater’s off night caused last week’s game against Rutgers to look closer on the scoreboard than the game actually was on the field. UCF & Rutgers are statistically similar football teams in total numbers, but their philosophies are very different. In the category of close losses to a top 25 school (aside from Louisville) UCF did seem, on the outside, to have a better showing against South Carolina than Rutgers did against Fresno State. That being said, don’t put too much stock in the box score of that game against South Carolina. It took a lot for that score to look as close as it did, and all of the following happened in the 4th quarter after South Carolina went up 28-10: 73 yard touchdown pass for UCF followed by a 2-point conversion After forcing a punt on the next South Carolina drive, UCF threw an interception in the red zone South Carolina drove 75 yards in 3 minutes before fumbling on the 3 yard line on a...
