Welcome everybody to another edition of the MAC-Attack. Today the attack heads East to Ypsilanti, the home of the Eastern Michigan University Eagles.
2008 Record: 2-6 MAC (3-9 overall)
Key Losses:
RB Terrence Blevins
LB Daniel Holtzclaw
DT Josh Hunt
DE Spenser Smith
2009 Key Games:
Temple (Home, 10/3)
Central Michigan (Away, 10/10)
Western Michigan (Home, 11/14)
Analysis:
Offensively speaking the Eagles were not horrible in 2008. Quarterback Andy Schmitt was solid last year throwing for 15 touchdowns and over 2,600 yards. However running back Terrence Blevins is departing, leaving a huge hole to fill. Next in line is junior back Dwayne Priest. Assuming Priest can carry the load, the Eagles' offense should be okay in 2009.
Defense is another story however. The EMU secondary returns veteran corners Kevin Long and Arrington Hicks, but loses safeties Dwayne Harrison and Jacob Wyatt. The pass defense was decent in 2008 and should be okay again in 2009.
